Stylebased Live colorfully, Tribe, Style with purpose

This was my final for my pattern drafting class. The concept behind my garment is empowerment and finding the beauty in African herritage. I mixed African prints to create style with a purpose. Woman can feel like modern day queens. I created a half scale pattern and prototype. Then created a full scale pattern including a leg-o-mutton sleeve, aysymetrical front bodice, back bodice, front facing, back facing, waistband, front and back peg skirt. After finishing my patterns I created a full scale muslin  without closures to test out my design. The details included darts, gathers, deep tucks, a slit, and facings. The final garment turned out as I pictured it. I feel it was succesful, because I planned my design and sewing it three times helped me alter and style it exsactly as envisioned.
